A thorough background investigation and written testing are a part of our hiring process. After all applications have been screened, a testing date will be announced. For those seeking sworn employment in a courts or road law enforcement position, a polygraph, drug testing and work performance test are a part of the hiring process. The Caroline County Sheriff's Office does not permit use of tobacco of any kind while on duty or when representing the office by ANY appointees.
Starting salary for those sworn appointees requiring Virginia law enforcement academy training is $32,785.00. Following completion of all training, the salary increases to $36,212.00.
Starting salary for sworn appointees with current Virginia DCJS law enforcement certification is a minimum of $36,212.00
Minimum starting salary for dispatchers is $28,321.00.
Minimum salary for the part time court positions is $10.00 per hour. This salary may be negotiable based on training and experience. Those appointees who already posess court security/civil process certification will start at a minimum of $12.00 per hour.
