A completed sheriff's office application may be downloaded below or obtained by picking one up at the office located at 118 Courthouse Lane in Bowling Green.  The original application (faxes are NOT accepted) must be RECEIVED (not postmarked) by 4 p.m. on the date in the announcement.  Late and/or incomplete applications will not be processed.  We ONLY accept applications when we are advertising for vacancies.

A thorough background investigation and written testing are a part of our hiring process.  After all applications have been screened, a testing date will be announced.   For those seeking sworn employment in a courts or road law enforcement position, a polygraph, drug testing and work performance test are a part of the hiring process.  We also require a physical at the applicant's expense. 

The Caroline County Sheriff's Office does not permit use of tobacco of any kind while on duty or when representing the office by ANY appointees.

Starting salary for those sworn appointees requiring Virginia law enforcement academy training is $32,859.00.  Following completion of all training, the salary increases to $36,145.00.

Starting salary for road deputies with current Virginia DCJS law enforcement certification is a minimum of $36,145.00.  For animal control deputies with certification, starting salary is $28,321.00.  Those needing training to become certified will begin at $25,746.00

Minimum starting salary for dispatchers is $28,321.00.

Minimum salary for the part time court positions is $10.00 per hour.  This salary may be negotiable based on training and experience.  Those appointees who already possess court security / civil process certification will start at a minimum of $12.00 per hour.
