2012 Police Unity Tour rides into Caroline County
May 11, 2012
The 2012 Police Unity Tour, whose motto is “We ride for those who died”, stopped for a lunch break today at Fire & Rescue Company 1 in Bowling Green before continuing their journey to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington D.C. to raise awareness about officers who have died in the line of duty.
The Police Unity Tour has raised nearly 10 million dollars since 1997 towards supporting the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial who honors the more than 19,000 men and women of law enforcement who have died in the line of duty. The Police Unity Tour is scheduled to coincide with National Police Week, the annual tribute to law enforcement service
and sacrifice that is held each May in DC. The Annual Candlelight Vigil on May 13th, the most emotional event during National Police Week, includes honoring members of law enforcement who have recently fallen. The 2012 Candlelight Vigil can be viewed during a free webcast. Visit http://support.nleomf.org/site/PageServer?pagename=CandlelightVigilRegistration for more details.
“I am proud to have these fine men and women, who so proudly represent the Police Unity Tour, to once again pick Caroline County as a stop in their journey to DC. They represent the finest qualities one could hope for in law enforcement officers and I am truly honored to consider them my extended family” commented Sheriff Lippa.
